FDA's 'plan' to remove food dyes: Industry 'understanding'
On April 21, 2025, the FDA announced that the agency plans to phase out synthetic dyes from foods. However, during a press conference on April 22, FDA Commissioner Makary clarified that there would be only an 'understanding' from the food and beverage industry to make the switch, and the agency would not be issuing a ban.
