Mary Bassett, MD, MPH, is an associate professor of clinical epidemiology at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. She is also director of the François-Xavier Bagnoud (FXB) Center for Health and Human Rights and FXB Professor of the Practice of Health and Human Rights at Harvard University’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

From 2014 through the summer of 2018, Bassett served as commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. She was elected to and served on the board of directors for CSPI from 2019 through 2021 before serving as commissioner of the New York State Department of Public Health between 2021 and 2022. 

As of 2023, Bassett has returned to the board of directors for CSPI.
