Breakup Between McDonald’s and the Olympics Long Overdue

It has been to both parties’ discredit that the Olympics has been used to associate McDonald’s disease-promoting menu of burgers, fries, and soda with athletic success and patriotism.
The breakup announced today by McDonald’s is very welcome, if long overdue.
The unfortunate fact is that for most of us, the Olympics isn’t about getting exercise, it’s about watching television. And the fewer McDonald’s ads we see the better.
