Trends in low calorie sweetener consumption in the United States

As a result of widespread concern and agreement about the harms of added sugars, as reflected in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, as well as the new line for added sugars on the updated Nutrition Facts label, food companies and consumers may look to an array of LCS to replace added sugars. This fact sheet summarizes what we know─and don't know─about the use and consumption of LCS in the United States and makes recommendations.
